Litvinism - the theory of continuity between modern Belarusian statehood and that of the old Grand Duchy of Litva (GDL). Belarusians in the understanding of modern Belarusian followers of Litvinism are Litivins, (...) descendants of the people who inhabited the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Even if followers of Litvinism ideology are willing to recognize the validity of existence of a separate Belarussian nation, but they dismiss all connections of this nation with the Russian people. In this part of their ideology, the Litvinism movement recognizes an Eastern origin of the Belarusians, but they consider Belarusians as politically less successful relatives of the Poles, who have more in common with the Poles Balts than with the Russians."
