"According to people who have been proximate to the development/implementation of Christianity, all people who commit suicide go to hell."
In my opinion.
If you see a post in red font made by my username, that means that it is Pompey's post, not mine.

They don't. A lot of biblical figures killed themselves. IT IS A SIN, but not UNFORGIVABLE. It's not in God's plan for you to take your own life, but it's not unforgivable.

It's entirely up to God, in the end. Suicide is not recommended, though. It's a huge risk one takes with regards to the afterlife. I won't pronounce any judgements on people regarding this, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

If you are a born-again child of God, I do not think He will cast you into hell for the sin of suicide. But, most likely, you will regret your decision, as you may be relegated to a lower status in God's eternal kingdom than you otherwise may have been able to attain by living your life in accordance with God's Will.

On second thought, I should have stated this more affirmatively than I originally did. No, a born again child of God will not go to hell.
We are told that we are predestined for adoption by God. That is, in love, God chose us before we even existed for adoption (Ephesians 1:3-6). Once God does that, it is irrevocable. If God chose you, by all means, He will have you! Do we really think we can override God's Will?!
Jesus is our Safety Net; our acceptance of Him as our Lord and Savior washes away all our sins, and ensures our redemption. Think about it: with that Safety Net, you couldn't fall through even if you tried!
Eternal security is an important concept not just because it's an extremely comforting thought. It's extremely important for our growth. It gives us exactly the assurance we need so that we can preach the Gospel. How can we live confidently as believers if we cannot be sure of our own standing with God? That is the path to self-doubt, which leads many people to doubt God. In fact, eternal security gives you precisely the Armor you need to live your life boldly, in accordance with God's Will. We know we will enjoy an eternal and loving relationship with Him. There is literally nothing to be afraid of! God does not want His children to be afraid of him in the slightest. I know that some say we are to "fear" God, but it is a misinterpretation. The actual meaning of this is that we are to revere Him. God is Love, and Love defeats Fear.
This is a very good article that explains all this. What we as believers do risk is falling out of Fellowship with God. In so doing, we may miss out on some of the Prizes we may have otherwise been able to obtain in God's kingdom. But salvation, itself, is a certainty! We stand to lose nothing. We can only gain.

I know this quite well. And I believe God has consistently comforted me of late and assured me of my salvation. I know what happens when the notion of eternal security is undermined. I do know that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior around ages 12-13. I read the Bible and got to know the Lord personally, without the oversight of church dogma. Around age 14, I began to be led astray by a fundamentalist (traditionalist) Catholic dogma, which is very much opposed to eternal security. I couldn't take it!!! Eventually, I simply convinced myself God didn't exist. And so I lived for 14 years as an atheist. But you know what? I really believe the Holy Spirit never left me. When I look back on my life, I see all the signs that were conveyed to me by God. Yes, the Holy Spirit was influencing my life even as an atheist. I see the overwhelmingly and irrefutable proof that atheism is is death and misery, and that eternal security through Christ is the way to true Freedom. I was like the lost lamb... wandering... only to be reclaimed by my Lord.
Suicide is, of course, very horrible. But there's absolutely no reason whatsoever a believer should ever commit suicide. We need to be confident in our salvation, and that will give us the strength to overcome challenges in life. And God will be there with you every step of the way.
