Default Ethnologue lists France as a country where Portuguese, Spanish and Italian are spoken

While the large Maghreb and SSA populations in France are well-known globally, less well-known is the sheer number of people there from the Latin world. It is the biggest Portuguese-speaking country outside the Portuguese-speaking world, the second-biggest Spanish-speaking country outside Spain and Latin America apart from the USA, and has the biggest Italian population in Europe outside Italy itself. According to the report, France has 829,000 speakers of Italian, 959,000 speakers of Portuguese, 453,000 speakers of Spanish as a first language and 5,720,000 speakers of Spanish as a second language: https://www.ethnologue.com/country/FR/languages

Never heard of them claiming rights or acknowledgement to their identity, or feeling discriminated or ignored by the french culture, or other typical things that other extra-european immigrant communities use to do.

    Do you have idea why?

Not really nowadays, but in the first half of the twentieth century this immigration was seen as more controversial in France.

Oh yeah. Even before the big post-war migrations from its former Empire, France was very much a European melting pot - much more than either Britain or Germany.

Most Portuguese immigrants in France speak a lousy Portuguese (they already did when they left the country) and often they mix both languages, we even joke about it, in August (the month when all emigrants come back on holiday) it's not rare to be on the beach and hear someone shouting "Jean-Claude mon fis, vem ici filho da puta !"

LOL. Well either way, from what I understand, Paris is rivalled only by Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as having the biggest Portuguese population outside Portugal. (In absolute numbers at least).

They always did - the Southern Euros have been there for slightly longer than the North Africans, plus there are some South Americans in Paris in particular too.

Paris has the biggest Portuguese community abroad, around 250K Portuguese in the Paris region, the 2nd largest foreign community after Algerians. The figures easily could double if Portuguese descent persons would be included.

Until a few years ago before Paris SG became a rich club, I remember that when Benfica played in Paris there was always more Benfica supporters than supporting the local team. The stadium was full of Portuguese immigrants.
