They have always wanted Taiwan. The only thing that has stopped them is the potential for direct conflict with the US. I suspect at some point they'll make a move, could be soon, could be a hundred years from now.

There are no US bases in Taiwan. The people of Taiwan (or the RoC - Republic of China) don't want to be part of the People's Reublic of China (PRC). Most people in Taiwan are anti-communist.

Your thread is fine It's not fake news. It is, however, an exaggeration by the news sites I think. Whilst true that technically China is ready to invade Taiwan if they are perceived to want to go for more independence, this situation has been like that for many years. But currently, tensions are higher between China and the US, and indeed there is probably a greater risk of war. I don't think China would do it, though, because that would spark something much more serious and China could even be nuked then in a major war with the US. So no, I really don't think Xi Jinping would try such a thing...
