It's true that they were a big spanish migration (mainly canarian, and some galicinans and basques) to Venezuela, but almost 85% of them arrived to Caracas and never moved from there. In the rest of the cities there is just a small spanish influence, and like i said first, mainly canarian, that's why Venezuela is considered the last Canarian Island.

Most of family was among them. They arrived from Asturias. Both of my father's paternal grandmothers arrived as children with their families. It was whole families who moved, not just single men.
Edit; I think there were a lot of Gallicians as well, as we have our own Caldo Gallego, with pork used instead of lamb.
