In fact the so called Iranic element in Iraq is rather due to devastating Turkoman invasions. Many of these so called Turkomans, were in origins just Turkized Iranic tribes. This can be seen by the White and Black sheep Turkoman invaders who were quite tyrannical in their rule, especially under Alexander and Uzzun Hassan. Then of course the Safavid's as well. Since the original people of Iraq were the Assyro-Babylonian, who for the most part disappeared with only some locality. Post-Mongol invasion saw a total change of demography due to depopulation. However many of the Turkomans who came to Iraq were just Turkic speaking Persians such as the Black and White sheep Turkomans, the Safavids, Afshars. These groups were responsible for bringing the Iranic elements to Iraq. Thus the Turkoman's served as proxy for Iranian admixture that's found in some Iraqi Arabs, and it shows the brutality of the Turkoman invasions, this was somewhat amplified by the barbarism of the Safavids. The Iranic element was infused with the Turkomans. Most of the Turkoman invaders were actually just Persians who spoke Turkic language. For example the White and Black sheep Turkomans who came from Persia. Also not to mention the Safavid and Afshars, it was these Turkomans who in their brutality brought the Iranic elements in Iraq. However the Iranic elements are very rare in Western regions of Iraq, or near the Saudi border. Only Kuwait has Iranic element that came voluntarily rather than by force like what happened in Iraq, and ironically many of them were escaping the Safavid prosecution. Thus Turkoman=Iranian for the most part.
