Why are North Italians lighter than Iberians?

This war is stupid. My own personal experience has been that there isn't much difference in pigmentation. Southern Italians have stronger, more exotic features. If one were to compare my fully Spanish paternal side with my husband's Sicilian side, there would be no differences in pigmentation but there are more exotic features in the Sicilian side including longer noses, uni-brows, thick, curly hair, and greater hirsuteness.

That being said, N. Italians probably have greater instances of light hair and eyes but it isn't that great a difference. What's the big deal anyhow?

Iberians are lighter than Italians as a whole, i don't think there is any doubt about that. North Italians might be marginally lighter than Iberians on average, but there isn't any study about North Italian pigmentation as far as i am aware.

Well, if you look at crowd and group pics like those I've posted comparing a disco in Algarve vs a disco in Calabria there's no comparison. The percentage of people with jet black hair and middle-eastern traits on the southern Italian set is just amazing. The Portuguese set of course fits better among northern Italians (just like genetic results reflect), anyone with a pair of functional eyes can see it.

Calabrians are the darkest South Italians tho (and your pics are probably cherrypicked, they aren't as dark as you portrayed). If you compare Iberians with Apulians and people from Abruzzo or other parts of S. Italy I doubt any will be significantly lighter/more Euro looking. Actually most S. Italians don't look Middle Eastern at all.

There is a difference, Spaniards are clearly on the darkest skin tone spectrum of Western European, not only just Italians. I get there almost every year so i can tell, everything else is just trolling in substance from Viejo the moor clown.
