The situation in Athens downtown is out of control and racism is growing wild. A group of far-right extremists started chasing coloured immigrants in Athens downtown after a mass rally to commemorate Manolis Kantaris, 44, who was stabbed to death by criminals from North Africa, according to a security camera of a near by shop – so the police. In the area around the murder the extremists attacked passingby migrants and damaged migrants’ shops. Short after the protest rally, the extremists started chasing immigrants in the streets around the Kotzia Square and the meat market, beating them and even stabbing them with knifes. Greek media report that the extremists chased even a coloured woman pushing a baby wagon.

Thirteen immigrants were injured, two of them with knife injuries in the thighs.

As the situation went properly out of control a group of immigrants attacked a Greek passerby and beat them so that he had to be transferred to a hospital with an ambulance. Another Greek was injured although it is unknown by whom and how.

Earlier far-right and far-left extremists had clashed meters away from the commemoration event of the tragic Manolis Kantaris. Riot police intervened and fired teargas to disperse the angry street fighters.

Three thousand people commemorated Kantaris, who lost his life when he was walking to pick up his car in order to bring his pregnant wife to the hospital to deliver their baby. Kantaris, a father of four under-aged children was holding a bag with a video camera to film the happy arrival of his fourth child. Three men approached him from the back, grabbed his bag and as he didn’t not let it lose they stabbed his on the back, the neck and the hands, according to security camera of a nearby shop.

Hours later and in deep shock his wife gave birth to his fourth child a daughter he will never meet.

The murder has triggered an outrage in the society with people and media heavily criticising the police and the mayor of Athens for having surrendered the Greek capital into the hands of criminal gangs setting in high danger the lives of the citizens.

The situation in the area remains tense.

Haven't you heard about this poor man,aged 44,who was murdered in cold blood two days ago?He was taking his pregnant wife to the hospital when a group of illegal immigrants attacked him.So I don't feel sorry for those injured yesterday.I save my compassion for his wife and daughter who will never celebrate her birthday since she was born hours after his death.
There's always two sides to a coin but I guess your hate don't let you see it.

I hope not.Moments like this I feel truly sorry for the Hellenic Coast Guard and Hellenic Navy in Crete and Kos since Turks promote immigrants every month.
But you're definitely see more of what happened yesterday in Athens.People living there are fed up.

As Police's Lieutenant-General has already said we can clean up Athens in 24 hours.We just need to take the order.So I really can't help but wonder but these morons at the Government are doing.It's not time for charity.
On the other hand you see people participating in simple boards like this one blaming Greeks for hooliganism every time they react.So in case a massive operation against immigrants take place I can't even imagine what some of you are going to say if you concider actions like this hooliganism.
It's just what I said before.Some of you here (I'm not referring to Peasant) hate Greece for other historical reasons so no matter what happens you'll never admit our rights.

True. And we have recognized it. Allow me a small correction though: The elitist politicians are the ones to blame for this. Simple citizens just became poorer. Big sharks became millionaires from one day to an other. And something else : most of the Greeks aren’t fond at all of European Union and Euro. Take us example my own family who’s a traditional Conservative military family and wanted an independent Greece AT LAST with it’s own currency and its own small economy with its pros and cons. Just in case everyone here thinks that we are all socialists in this country enjoying to spend other people’s money. Now do you mind saying something about the thread’s topic?
