If the Abbasids managed to keep Crete, how would history play out you reckon?

Highly Arabized culturally, and probably would have become part of Syria or would have been just an Arab island nation as many Arabs did settle that island btw many of them were from Nejd and Southern Iraq with some Egyptians and Andalusian Arabs many who had their origins in the Syrian Desert and Yemen, with few Berbers and here and there . History would have been very different, just like what happened with Sicily and Malta partially, however Malta was more effected by Arab culture and language but the process was not fully completed due to the Norman conquest.

Quite accurate, I would imagine Crete and the Ottomans unifying into one state and then in the 21st century, the island would either be its own state or part of Turkey.
