'Calvinist' is also a way to describe a mental state to me. Modesty in showing one's emotion, not showing off with one's achievements, having capital or possession and not attributing much personal worth to it, sternness in principle, frugality and patience.

Many Dutchmen, even atheist ones, even those opposing Christianity, have such state of mind. One friend of mine is like that. He's a black metal aficionado, adores Varg Vikernes and Burzum, but he's calvinist as fuck in his mentality. Very nice person who always has your back even if he barely ever shows his emotions expressively, he is every bit as full of emotion nonetheless. Haven't talked to him in years, many years and yet we check on each other's status sometimes. But ten years ago we hung around at times, in the Netherlands.

His ancestors were calvinists, as he's from Groningen and they evidently put a stamp on his ethos. Moreover are black metal fans usually actually very pacifist and loving people, despite their appearance, but that's another discussion.
