Those steppe people are ultimately the ones who gave birth to the global Iranic identity, language and culture. Iran's fundamental identity is based on the Persians whom were also a sub culture of the greater Iranic culture of the steppe. Sarmatians were in no way slavs, if that's what you're trying to say.

Ossetians who speak a language similar to what the sarmatians spoke aren't much different from Iranians genetically speaking.
