Wait here, Costa Rica 's mestizos aren't in the tri-racial trip. Not yet.

I think, like in Colombia, the average Mestizo in Costa Rica isn't Tri-racial but there's a sizable minority of Tri-racials classified as Mestizos.

I live in a U.S. State with many Ticos and it's not unusual for them to look like mixed PR's, Venezuelans, or Brazilians though there's others who look plain Mestizo.

It is overestimated actually, most self-identified Blacks in Latin America are actually mulattoes. Multiple studies have shown that Latin Americans underestimate their European ancestry, and overestimate their Black and Amerindian ancestry.

I just watched a documentary on Black people in Latin America, it seems greatly encouraged for people to identify as something other than Black even if they are mostly of African ancestry. It seems at least true in some Latin American countries with bigger Black populations.

Yeah I watched the one video years ago and Gates has the camera on a bunch of Mulattoes and said "they are black and don't know it" VERBATIM.
Just leave them alone and let them be and have their own culture LOL.
