More so with my country. I don't feel attached solely to one state. I live in New Jersey, but I also feel connected to Pennsylvania. I was born in Pennsylvania, the majority of my family history is there, and the majority of my extended family still lives there. But I feel connected to New Jersey, too, since I was brought up here. I love this state, too, especially South Jersey since I'm from South Jersey, and in some ways quite different from North Jersey. But I love this state, too. The nice towns, the Shore. Especially our Shore!

More so my region. I'm from New York but my area has absolutely nothing in common with NY City, in fact we mostly dislike the city and don't want association. I and the people in my area identify more with Appalachia.

Both. The USA has a lot to offer. The Federal Union handles important issues such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964. That ended segregation in all states and superseded any state law. State law is more focused on local issues, however, states only have so much power to handle issues. Healthcare is also something that should be handled on a Federal level as no state by itself can resolve this. Doctors and medical professionals can just leave one state and move to the next to avoid state law they do not like.
