The Pontic Greeks do not even, originally, identify with mainland Greece and its ancient continuity, like Southerners do. They call themselves 'Romans' (even now, especially in diaspora) and their homeland is the Greco-Roman Eastern Empire with its capital, Constantinople, or after its fall, Trebizond and/or Theodoro.
Principality of Theodoro.
Empire of Trebizond.
