Default Favorite character/s from first book in ASOIAF series?

Mine would be Varys, Bronn, Tyrion, and Tywin.

Favorite character quotes from the novel are those belonging to Varys/Tyrion.

Great character, I agree. I like how Martin left Tywin's first appearance until late in the novel..

It's interesting how different characters resonate with different people.. I always found Jon's chapters a bit boring (maybe because the Wall idea/s never got my juices flowing)..

One reason I like Varys/Bronn/Tyrion/Twyin is for their particular brands of autonomy..

Definitely, that's what makes the books so good, the characters are all great in their own ways. I personally love the attempts to stay honourable and stick to their values like Jon and Ned showed. And Tyrion with his silver tongue lol

    I agree, man..

The character of Ned I didn't mind so much.. as you suggested, his honor is kind of moving in its own way.. And Tyrion's remarks made me laugh out loud a few times (I enjoy humor via the written word)..

I read the first four or five books years ago.. am doing a re-read now.. just started Clash of Kings..

As far as Fantasy, my favorite reads of all time were: The First Law series, ASOIAF, Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, and Malazan series (only finished the first two books (will complete series in due time for sure))..
