Historical truth is that there was no medieval Bosniak nation. Bosniaks are recent creation based on Islam and Ottoman cultural heritage.
Many Bosniaks are not in Bosnia since middle age. Large part of them are settlers from other territories outside of Bosnia. They escaped to Bosnia when Ottomans were removed from Vojvodina, Hungary, Slavonia, Lika , Bay of Kotor and Dalmatia in late 17th and early 18th century, and from Serbia and Montenegro in 19th century.
In eastern and northeastern Bosnia a lot of Bosniaks are settlers from Serbia in 19th century. For example all Muslims from Srebrenica and around came from Užice in western Serbia in 1863. Family of Alija Izetbegović came to Šamac from Belgrade capital of Serbia in 1861. Even some Muslims in Bosanska Krajina are settlers from Serbia in 19th century.
Muslims were 1/3 in Belgrade pashaluk in early 19th century. After Serbian uprisings all of them migrated to Bosnia. Šabac, Užice, Valjevo, Loznica, Smederevo, Požarevac, Soko and Rudnik had Muslim majority before Serbian uprising in early 19th century. Belgrade was 1/3 Muslim.

Most of the Muslims along the Sava River come from Serbia as the land along it quite often saw outbreaks of malaria due to its swampy nature, leading to depopulation. Ottoman policy was to keep Muslims away from border areas and a bit inland, but they needed to populate towns like Donja Azizija (Orasje, where Izetbegovic's family arrived from Serbia) with dealers, market traders, and so on. There were never many Muslims in Dalmatia, so their impact in BiH when their refugees arrived was minimal. More notable was the movement of Muslims from Lika to Bosanska Krajina, and especially those from Slavonia into Northern Bosnia (along with the examples you mentioned).
