Back then it was a normal thing. My ancestors also held positive view on Serbia at that time and considered them as brothers of different faith. It changed only later during the Kingdom of Yugoslavia when many people got disappointed with the new country.

I was told this story years ago. Apparently the italians shit themselves when they heard the news but in reality it was trains full of unarmed Serb POWs from Austria-Hungary returning home. They weren't going to fight.
