What is described here was how my own grandparents used to do it. In fact, in the Netherlands (for the most part), until 1963, she received her husband's wage packet. In alternative systems in, for instance the city of The Hague, he received the wage packet in a coffee house so it wouldn't be spent on alcohol. Those same coffee houses were often built by the workers of certain companies with the direct financial support of their employer and also supplied lunch packs or a place to bring your own. The children and the wife also knew where to find the husband and it kept the husband in check since being picked up by your wife in what was basically a traditionally male space (women weren't welcome in pubs until the 1960s), was considered a real blow to your reputation. It's not only ok, it's an imperative.
We have to allow women to be mothers between 25 and 35 yo. Otherwise our culture will thin out until it will disappear.

A sort of basic income for mothers might be required. And social programs for part time jobs will full benefits for mothers.
One cannot be full time mother and full time employee at the same time.
This is a basic truth contemporary society has not come to terms with, yet.


And while there will be high costs associated with such policies, not implementing them will mean basically extinction.

From a female perspective, I feel like these days it takes a lot of trust to expect a man to support you financially. Fortunately all the women in my family are educated and have been able to raise the kids while the husband works (some periods working, but not necessary). But I believe the education part is very important, because I would not get into something like this without a backup plan.

Women ought have the same autonomy in designing their lives as men, IMO.

My wife is basically a housewife. There's only so much I can do at this point. At times she has felt like she is missing out on something, but I think overall she realizes that it's just an illusion, so long as she can trust ME.

I truly believe my kids are better off for it.

Besides, my wife likes animals, last I counted we had 48, if she got a job there would be nobody to tend to the farm.

Being a housewife is not just okay, it's a luxury for most women, second wave feminism was a Trojan Horse of capitalists, after demanding the false right to work by alleged representation, women now are wondering about the right to stay at home and raise children, honestly it's a better perspective than working until 67 in a miserable job.

A sort of basic income for mothers might be required.

I smell USSR, no need to welfare, just give workers their fair share of wealth creation, and stop subsidizing degenerates, familial tissue will sew up by itself.

you have a farm?

I wouldn't call it a farm, but I get goat milk, cow milk, chicken/duck/goose eggs/meat from my property. It's a homestead I guess. We don't really make money off the operation, but we save money, and consume product better than what you find at the grocery store.

For example, my egg yolks aren't yelllow, they're bright orange, almost red. That's because my chickens and ducks roam freely and get all kinds of vegetables scraps and worms/bugs in their diets. I don't buy feed.

I hope to expand at some point. My true desire is grass fed Guernsey cows. The best of the best.

Modern middle-class is bereft, an average salary is not enough anymore to raise a family, being a housewife in post-modern era is a step towards autonomy.
