Macedonia region is not far genetically from them. They are close both In autosomal And yDNA.

But their culture,languange, names etc are totally of Slavic origins.

Its a marxist delusion these people cluster with Greeks some do though maybe 20% of the population but no more than that. When you put them all together they cluster between Bulgaria - Serbia . The 20% south FYROM do cluster closer with Greeks but not the North + East.

I dont see any big diffrences between them and from a local greek macedonian to both autosomal and ydna.They both look native balkaners with a huge slavic admixture.Well to be fair,some of them from the northern parts are probably more slavic influenced than the people who live in the south part,who look more native.Native greek macedonians on the other hand are the most northern shifted ethnic greek group in Greece.The have romania/bulgaria on k13 as first but anyways.

The most importan thing for me is not the genetics but the culture,languange,place names,behavior and where the real Macedonian Empire took place.These people look more native paionians rather Greek Macedonians.

Their native ancestry is probably assilimated thraco-illyrian tribes.
