I am not so sure whether it is a case of lashing out, dna8. Not in this era. Twenty years ago, in a different time with a different mentality, I might have agreed with you but this is just another attempt to force through more censorship. We have a lot of these heart-wrenching stories come up lately. At the risk of sounding cynical: how do we even know that they are true ?

Even if it's true the context may vary a lot. Child's safety is always parent's responsibility before anything else. It may seem authoritarian to some but you wouldn't allow your 1 yo to crawl into balcony and drop off the edge. No matter what child wants you'd use your physical superiority to stop him.

Same here, one shouldn't just hand the kid device that allows to see the whole world as it is, there are things that may lead to trauma with unforeseen consequences. Parents have to be authoritarian when necessary.

The whole narrative seem to be twisted to push specific agenda and to allow parent to feel victim rather than enabler.
