Not only a US phenomena, it happens almost everywhere. In France information is almost only relayed by Reuters of AFP. Same canal information dispatched throughout several medias.
This is what they called the plurality opinions. Aside that you can still get interesting articles here and there, unlike tv infos channels that only became a one way propaganda.

Same here in the Netherlands. Consequently, I tend to avoid the news aspect of newspapers and only use them for the cultural/historical pages.

The internet remain one of the last way of thinking resistance against mass medias single mindset anyway.

I agree. For as far as I am concerned, the MSM (when it comes to news and current affairs) is dead.

Well money is leading almost everything by now, weather report is certainly more interesting and more lucrative for them than any geo-political subjects.
Years after years, serious contents has almost totally disappears from MSM, this is terrible but that's the way it is.

That would be my advise to the alternative media: when they get the resources for it - take over in those fields as well.
