Who is culturally closer to the Irish : Russians or Greeks?

Greeks by a long shot. There's a cultural affinity between Greeks and Irish in the US and a shared sense of exploitation in Europe. The Irish, like the Greeks are sort of Euro outsiders. The Russians have less to do with Euro (proper) culture.

lol... what kind of comparison is that?! The Irish are unique, but the world is full of plastic paddies and Irish wannabes. Seems like everyone wants to be like the Irish.

There's actually an Irish musician named Ross Daly who traveled the world studying musical traditions and in the end decided to settle in Crete. He opened up a Music school there which is now one of the most renowned in Greece. Out of all the instruments he's played and collected he's chosen the Lyra as his specialty, he even designed his own. People come from all over the world to listen and be taught by him.

Till XIX almost all Irish educated people knew Greek and Greek authors.. so the answer is clear..

Although I personally certainly prefer wine to vodka and I consume both next to never, I honestly think that it's the Russians that the Irish are closer to of the two. I think politics have little to do here. As it's been mentioned both nations have great literature. They have great music too! I enjoy the sound of Enya.
