I suppose it is common in Australia and the USA where it gets very hot in the summer. Europe is generally not as sunny as Australia and USA. I even have a Danish brother in law that is a farmer and in the summer he gets dark as hell also. Funny thing I noticed about people with Anglo blood and myself included as I am part Anglo is that my face stays pale while my arms and rest of body gets tan. I been told this is common among Anglos because their rosy face can absorb sunlight better than a tan face, which makes sense as the UK is foggy and overcast a lot of the time. My face is always the last thing to darken.
