Had a look at a few autism simulation videos, but they were just showing how in autism it can be difficult for an Aspie for example in a restaurant to focus, to tune or zoom into the voice of the person they are dining with because they cannot zoom/tune out from other noises, hence the overwhelm. But those are all real surrounding sounds happening.
Also quickly changing lights, flickering lights become very disturbing.

Schizophrenic voices are just in one’s head, but I guess they would have a similar overwhelming effect.

See that sounds like normal environment stimulation to me.

But all the videos I happened to see on this are literally like someone in their own apartment hearing 3 random voices at a time and having violent intrusive thoughts, that's not autism, that's schizophrenia lol.

There is this video, which I love:

If I listen to it intently, it usually expands my awareness of all sounds and of distant sounds – at least for a little while whilst the effect lasts.
To me it has a trance-like effect, which is harmonious and soothing, so there perhaps is an increase of Serotonin, Dopamine or Endorphin (whatever it is) happening (?)
But I have got no idea if the same applies to Aspies? Perhaps, instead of these soothing brain chemicals, excessive Noradrenalin (?) is produced - in which case the expanded sensitivity is experienced as an increased threat (?)

    P.S.
    And in case of OCD.
There is the so called “Death Whistle” in the video.
An intrusive thought: “OMG! must not listen to it, hearing it will cause something bad to happen …. must take precautions “…
Is that how it is??? One buys into the superstitions of one’s own mind? ... Because feeling 'Fear' makes it feel real?

    Super sensitivity to noise.

I cannot see how this can be misinterpreted as hearing voices in schizophrenia. And no doubt hearing neighbours arguing through the walls would be very distressing.
I just wonder if sound therapy would help. One that would induce alpha brainwaves – not to get rid of noise sensitivity, but to produce a calm, relaxed, detached mood to be able to handle noises better.
I just react to this, because people seem to accuse Aspies of all sorts of things.

    OCD?
Intrusive thoughts – don’t think I have had those really – but perhaps something similar to it was a Narcissist introducing an intrusive thought, out of the blue, from the left field - scary as hell, which was supposed to apply to me.
I used to get what I called panic attacks because of them, but I suppose they were more like freeze responses.
Couldn’t go into the scary scenario, taking it for real, but couldn’t disregard it either as unreal or as a possibility.
What did I used to do?

I guess I used the “Time-Space-Mind” - kind of formula. The utter simplicity of ”just being” in order to ground myself in the present moment of NOW – not pushing the thought away, but not pulling it either, but staying neutral. IF there was any TRUTH to the intrusive thought, REALITY would show it. Courage to have an open question to the “Universe” – and left it like that.

This always - so far - resulted in anti-freeze and seeing the ridiculous proposition of the introduced thought in the first place.
So. Mindfulness meditation? Perhaps a good idea, because then you can track your own responses down to their triggers.

I do not understand Schizophrenia, except that I know the New Age notion of Shamans being schizophrenic is downright ridiculous.
Still, this is thought provoking & I do not know what to make of it:
