This is the most common insult against people of the Indian race(people from India) but it's based on fiction. First of all, yes the country has high rates of outdoor defecation but it takes place mostly in rural areas and in secluded fields. It is not happening in the middle of the city street. When I went there, I maybe saw a few small kids doing it on the street occasionally but not hordes of grown ass men and women like how it's depicted on the internet.

You're talking about a country with insanely high rates of poverty and a massive population density. If a few kids are shitting on the street, it makes practically no difference. Most of the "shit" seems to be buffalo/cow/dog/donkey dung.

They don't seem to shit in the streets in neighbouring Pakistan anywhere near as much, they even make memes about Indians doing it. It seems like a cultural thing.
