Not exactly a keeping tune with Dark Age Hibernia theme but y'all best recognize the bespoke Brehon Law. Maybe I'll look up one on Aed of Mide

The Irish faced a fair amount of hardship historically so I think it gives them humility and a good sense of humor.

I wish I could find a really good video about Brian Boru. Apparently History Time said they would be making one.

There is a series being made about Brian Boru (apparently).

    https://www.irishcentral.com/roots/h...boru-tv-series

Lots of places named after Brian Boru in Ireland i.e. bridges, roads, restaurants and plenty of pubs.

The series is being adapted from the 1980 New York Times bestselling novel "Lion of Ireland" written by Morgan Llywelyn. The novel was a favorite of US president Ronald Reagan, who read it after his ancestry was traced to the Viking conqueror.

Read more: Queen Elizabeth is a descendant of Irish High King Brian Boru - say what?

The rights to the novel have been acquired by Irish author Michael Scott and BCDF Pictures, an American production company behind "The Pirates of Somalia" and "Bachelorette," The Sunday Times reports.

Claude dal Farra, a producer for the upcoming TV adaptation, described the eight-episode series as “a bit of a hybrid between Vikings and Braveheart."

I don't think the Romans looked too closely at Ireland. They named it Hibernia because they thought it was a land of eternal winter. The difference between Ireland and Scotland as far as the British Empire was that Scotland was joined with England in The Act of Union so it was willingly. With Ireland however it was Dermot MacMurrough, the King of Leinster who gained permission from Henry II to invite in some Normans so that he could regain his kingdom. Dermot regained his Kingdom with the help of the Normans and named his Norman son-in-law Strongbow (Richard de Clare) as his heir. Henry II feared the establishment of a rival Norman kingdom in Ireland so with the help of a papal bull Laudabiliter (which has never been found) landed a large fleet in Waterford in 1177 and declared himself King of Ireland. This was the start of English rule in Ireland.

Ireland however rebelled constantly (which is a long story ) but eventually became the first country (26 counties) to gain independence from the British Empire.

Your signature picture could be from Irish and Scottish folklore i.e. the legend of the Selkie.

This is an interesting take on the Selkie legend.

There is a charming Irish movie about the Selkies called the Secret of Roan Inish.

England was united in comparison to its cousins but you could argue that's its people were originally a more invaded and submissive one. Also that they had arable land to settle on.

The rebellions and disunion in England happened only every so often.
