Bulgars closer to Montenegrins or Russians and Belarusians ?

Please don't speak about swarthiness. Croats aren't particularly lighter than Bulgarians..

Also Bulgarians do not look Eastern Slavic.

Croatia as a country is obviously whiter because it lacks Gypsy minority and have plenty of Germano Slavic recent admixture

Okay, but Czechs and Slovaks aren't particulary lighter than Croats either. They are as lighter than us as are we compared to you.
Anyway, I didn't open this thread for trolling purposes. To me many Bulgarians (and Romanians) look very eastern European but with meddish pigmentation.

Half of Europe was under Russian domination at that time and there was cultural exchange between all Warsaw pact countries. One of the few good things about that time was that the gypsy yugoslav culture and singers were banned.

Yugoslav culture was considered Gypsy by many people in Yugoslavia especially among some Slovenes and Croats.

None. I can't connect them to Montenegrins because Montenegrins have tribal society organization, that is similar only to Albanians. Yeah, answer isn't clear cut as it seems. That's why I opened this thread. To initiate interesting conversation, nothing more. Just sick of Croats being discussed all the time.

Bulgarian language, phenotype, genetic, history are closer to Montenegrin than Russian.
To Russians are closer type of cyrillic script (Montenegrins use Latin also), and Soviet influence period.

Bulgarians is answer of this question. If question is Bosnia or Bulgaria, than answer would be Bosnia (the closest country to Montenegro in every aspect, not Albania like people think).
But closeset country to Serbia is Montenegro.

Although it's important to note that similarity is not really uniform across entire countries. Culture varies a lot depending on region even in the same country.
