Who are culturally closer to the Austrians : Armenians or Portuguese?

The question not out of mere curiosity but because of the following.

An Austrian journalist and writer Barbara Denscher who visited Armenia many times (for the first time she visited because of her husband being the head of the cultural department of the Vienna City Hall, to participate in the opening ceremony of the Vienna Music Festival held in Armenia) and sharing impressions on Armenia she said:

"My interest was caused by the fact that Armenians are very similar to us. When I flew to Yerevan for the first time I thought that everything would be completely different here. But in Armenia a big surprise awaited me. I saw that Armenians, Armenian culture are very similar to us, to our culture. In Vienna, every time I say that an Armenian is closer to us than a Portuguese. With this expression, I do not want to offend the Portuguese, just our cultures are too far from each other, different. But Armenian culture, music, literature is very close to us".

Armenian culture derived mostly from orthodoxy with assyrian and old persian influence.

Austrian are in catholic sphere and they sharing common european cultural thraits with portuguese. They clearly closer to portuguese.

Armenians have their own Church , and they were the 1st Christian nation.

Maybe the Austrian lady was trying to express that both nations (Austria and Armenia) have some high culture , but I probably would tend to say Portuguese and Austrians overall must be culturally closer.

Austrians and Portuguese are both pure European civilization. In one way Germanic peoples are pragmatic like Armenians. They develoed industry in Europe like Armenians in the Caucasus.
While Romanic peoples are more Romantic.

Yes Armenians and Germans are clever people at organising / making things etc , some high culture ... maybe thats what she was trying to express.
