Not a bad choice at all. You are quite a Mediterranean soul then! I like those things in a bit different way. French music and Italian writers for me.

Indian music is highly evolved in terms of theory & practice. The vocals & instruments are distinct even though they came very long back from ME & Iran.

Only an Italian could write this song (and sing it in this way):

Melancholy music is the best kind of music, when it comes to popular music.

I'm not even half anything, just a winter born northerner. I utterly love melancholic scenes and music. Norwegian mountains on the way to Oslo or Snowdonia ... Beautiful.

    Music links

Melancholy music is the most resonant, imo.
Total despondency is just not possible, with musical accompaniment. Not even country music.

British music does melancholy well, as does Nick Cave.

But qawaali music has the emotion mastered:-

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Sanu ek pal chain...:

    A beautiful Bollywood tune:-

Lagan lagi tumse man ki Lagan:

Coke studio (India or Pakistan, is full of beautiful examples):-

I don't think so. K-Pop and Bollywood songs are mostly joyful, sometimes MENA music also. But don't know much about their traditional musics
