Map of German Light Eyes (very old)

I made a map of Light Eyes in Germany

It comes from Virchow's 1886 study of about 7 million children.



Breaking lines for easier digestion:



Total number of light eyes is 72,8%. Blue eyes are 39,4%

Table for hair, skin and eye color combinations for Germany's larger regions of that time:



Some color maps were already originally published along with the study, but unfortunately they aren't available on the archive.org
The only one I was able to find is of "blond type" and "brown type":



If somebody has other maps fro Virchow please post them here. I doubt the copyright still holds after 150 years

Light includes grey/green as well as light hazel (eyes that have small brown/yellow mixture but are majority light.

Fair enough. I expected higher percentage of blue eyes though. How did the percentages change as Germany lost its North-Eastern territories which are considerably lighter than Germany as a whole?

I have no idea. I'm not aware of any studies encompassing whole Germany after WW1.

All Germans (who survived) were expelled from eastern territories to Germany. I would expect that percentages are approximately the same, maybe slightly darker, but not a huge difference.

The line between south and central north and Eastern Germany is fascinating, I guess this corresponds largely with other data as well, does it correspond, ie Thirty Years war, with the protestant/catholic divide too?
