Do you think passports will be, one day, delivered based on haplogroups ?

For example : I am blessed/cursed with, let's say, some clade of the haplogroup "R", and this particular clade is only found in Belarus. Therefore, I can apply for Belarusian citizenship ?

And if we are to live in an ultra-fascist world, maybe I won't even need a plane ticket to go there: there is already the train...

Judging by the high interest people from this forum have in genetics, I would expect that some of you wish haplogroups linked to ancestry start figuring on ID cards and defining your status in society.

But on a more trivial note, you would probably prefer hanging with people of the same haplos as you, if you had a mean of knowing anyone's haplos IRL.

I think it would be not only dystopical but absurd.

You can be just 1/32 Belarussian and carry that specific Belarussian haplogroup, so doesn't make any sense to me.

I prefer the traditional jus sanguinis or blood-based citizenship, through documented ancestry.

If you carry that specific haplo, it means that your father was carrying it as well, and now you are half that and half what your mother passed to you.

So, if you carry that specific clade of the haplo it cannot be seen as distant ancestry, therefore you could make it possible to get to the Belarusian citizenship in that particular and imaginary context.
