Di Stéfano was the total player, as he is called. A midfielder. A striker. Even a defender.

Celtics of 80s were not a super-ultra-talented team. Only Bird was. The rest just were talented players. Danny Ainge not even that. And its bench was not what I would say a super bench. Only Bill Walton highlighted, and he only lasted 2 years...
Again, same than Bernabéu & Di Stéfano, Bird changed the dynamic of Celtics. They came from a couple of disastrous seasons.

Same as Real Madrid with and without Cristiano Ronaldo, 4 champions league in the last 5 seasons in a much more difficult period of football, and against the best Barcelona team in history.

I mean, when Puskas arrived to Real Madrid, the team/Di Stéfano had won 3 Champions League already

But he can not be compared with Di Stéfano. The Argentinian won 8 Ligas in 11 years. The Portuguese 2 Ligas in 9 years

There were other very good players, before Puskas there was Kopa who was also a great star of that time.

In terms of Ligas it is evident that the internal competition, meaning the level of Barça is MUCH higher now, it is without question the best Barça in history.

Anyway I am not denying that Di Stefano was the number one if his time, especially during the 50's.

Eusébio when he won the European Cup against Real and was the star of the match, always told the story that they wanted to put the cup in his hands and he was running away chasing after Di Stéfano to ask for his shirt, he only cared about the shirt of his idol not the Cup.

That's how big Di Stefano was in that time.

But in my opinion in a direct comparison of players from completely different times, we can not value the players of that time like in modern times, the level of competition and tactics were much different.
