    The waterway project to connect Europe and Asia. The New Order in the Caspian Sea which started emerging after the Fifth Caspian Summit encourages new transportation projects in the area.

    That explains why they attacked Ukraine and annexed the Eastern Ukraine as well as the Crimea: they want to control both ends of it before the work can begin.

    They already had access to the Azov Sea before 2014.

    Oh yeah. But what good would that be if the ships can't even leave the Azov Sea because the Crimea is Ukrainian and Ukraine turned to the U.S ?
