From what I have seen the Slovak Folk Dancing and Music is closer to Hungarian in its movements and musical melodies than for example compared with South Slav Folk Dances/Folk Music. In terms of Folk dancing and folk music possibly Slovak is the closest to Hungarian{compared with all other neighbour nations) then I think in Transylvania region there is some similarities between Hungarian Szekely Folk dances and Romanian Transylvanian folk dance.
Slovaks lived as Hungarian citizens for hundreds of years so cultural and even some genetic overlapping is hardly suprising .
As for side conversations presented in this thread and another thread foolishly suggesting that Hungary isnt a real nation of its own , of its own identity ...the biggest BS ever ...Hungary is one of Europes oldest Kingdom's and it is also quite possible the Hungarian language and Magyar identity has been in the Carpathian basin even before 896Ad.
Hungarys unique identity, culture and language has been present in Europe for 1125 years at very least.
Only foolish people try to denigrate this , but this type of mentality can have connections to past anti Hungarian movements and other nations nationalist movements and expansionist interests. That some fools still can think this way in 2021, oh well.
