This is the most important body sign for every classification. Skull index is measured as the ratio of the maximum breadth of the skull to its maximum length. We recognize 3 basic skull types:
Brachycephalic: often planoccipital( but not always). Index 80 - 84,9. Alpinids, baltids, dinarids, approx. half of amerindian phenotypes, some mongoloid phenotypes, minority of African phenotypes, mtebids etc.
Mesocephalic: often curvoccipital. Index 75 - 79,9. Nordids, mediterranids, many cromagnid-influenced phenotypes, majority of mongoloid phenotypes, approx. half of amerindians and half of African phenotypes
Dolichocephalic: always curvoccipital. Index 70 - 74,9. Some nordids, mediterranids, approx. half of African phenotypes and majority of Australian phenotypes, some orientalids, indian phenotypes
