Default Should a country's media be genuinely ethnically representative?

It is more-or-less an open secret that in many countries around the world - Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Pakistan and India to name but a few - the media is far from being truly ethnically representative, and usually instead disproportionately favours lighter-pigmented actors, TV presenters and models. Is this an acceptable situation, or should active measures be carried out to change this?

I think it should be allowed to show atypical people but should definitely also represent majority example india showing light skinned indian is not bad but not having dark skinned regular indian is bad.

Depends on the country. On small countries such as mine it is.

Yes, and I think it is! There are a few black reporters and a few TV pivots/hosts but they are in secondary TV's or news channels.

I think in most European countries, the media doesn't diverge too much from reality in this respect. (Although I would at least question France, which didn't even have a Black newsreader until 2005!) Instead, this is much more of an issue in parts of the world such as Latin America, the MENA and South Asia, where racial divisions and OWD come into play.

BBC and Channel 4 are, especially their news programmes. On the other hand, ITV, Channel 5 and the Sky channels aren't especially.
