I am against quotas of any type anywhere. media looks for better looking people in general so it is what it is. and most importantly it must not be linked to Europeans/White supremacy, as it is in no way related to it - for example it is known that north Chinese think their aesthetics are superior to south Chinese and southeast Asians in general, a component of it being also skin colour, and in no way is this rooted in Eurocentrism. this feminist agenda shouting White privilege at everything must be repelled

It is more-or-less an open secret that in many countries around the world - Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Pakistan and India to name but a few - the media is far from being truly ethnically representative, and usually instead disproportionately favours lighter-pigmented actors, TV presenters and models. Is this an acceptable situation, or should active measures be carried out to change this?

If most of the people who go the route of acting or media happen to be light skinned then that's mostly what you're going to see. I don't see the problem. The idea of choosing actors and news people based on race/ethnicity is stupid.

In Pakistan media personalities like news casters , actors and actresses do lean toward lighter end of spectrum but they do look Pakistani, but you are right very dark Pakistanis are completely absent from showbiz except some models (where dark is considered exotic).

Aswering the question of the thread that depend of the agenda. I mean, in USA 47% of the TV publicity is portrayed by blacks but blacks are around of 13% of country's population. In other words, non-hispanic whites and hispanics are not represented. But is because the trend of being more "inclusive". In Chile germanic whites are overrepresented in media, but is not a problem to the population. So I don't see problem if the majority of population feel agree about how their population as a whole are represented in media. Same with japanese in their cartoons. Most of them are black haired or brunnete but the cartoons have a lot of people with blonde, green, blue, purple....hair and they don't have problems.
