I think it really depends on the country. We're tied to the country by the Rhine and its side rivers. Plus most motorways and rail services connect to the German network and particularly to the Ruhr. It would be fair to say that we also have three real international airports: Schiphol, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt (two of which are in Germany). 80/85 percent of our trade is with Germany. We're basically a German Bundesland but with an independent government.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Well I didn't said before but EU in a format where all European countries would be part of an union is bad for productive countries like Germany or Netherlands, but good for countries like Croatia, Slovenia or Italy. Because of centralized currency Croatian credit rating will rise and thus its GDP but likewise German or Dutch will drop. You can sort of see the whole picture if you try to map this economic model to EU members in general:

As a side effect this creates socio-economical problems, such as rise of right wing policies, but its all normal within the deflationary and recessive part of economical cycle.

You don't need to tell this to a Dutchman or a German. That's why we have these growing Eurosceptic movements here. We're basically paying for everyone's else lunch and we don't even get respect in return.
