Default Should Croatia ditch the kuna and adopt the Euro?

Statements made this week signalled that there is no place for the kuna in Croatia's future. The country now looks certain to adopt the Euro as its official currency.

Boris Vujcic, Governer of Croatia's Central Bank, said this week that the country will apply to join the European Exchange Rate Mechanism later in 2019. Any country wishing to adopt the Euro as its official currency and therefore join the Eurozone must first join the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.

It is believed that Croatia hopes to adopt the Euro by 2020. The current Croatian government look not to be interested in any public consultation on their decision to join the Euro.

Following the U.S. financial crisis in 2008, investors' fears of a sovereign debt crisis occurring in some European states impacted negatively on the economies of Eurozone members Greece, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The kuna has been the official currency of Croatia since 1994.

No, we must keep Kuna. Vujčić is a sellout working for import lobby and one of responsible for poor economic growth due to his ridiculous fiscal politics.
Euro would be a catastrophe, nobody normal ditched their currency for that : healthiest EU economies in east all kept their currency.

Kuna is overvalued though and that is one of main problems of Croatian economy. They are overly rigid and conservative when it comes to Kuna value - they should let it adopt to market naturally, that would help economy so much. But these guys are retards and certified traitors working for their bosses, not for good of this country.

You can see what kind of Government that is which wants to force Euro on us without any consultation - exactly because they know it has absolutely no domestic support.

If they keep going like this, there will be blood on he streets sooner than many expect - mark my words. Croatia needs to get rid of incompetent servant faggots following Brussels orders.

No.. keep the kuna and in fact, the Eurozone is a nightmare and the Dutch and Germans would be better off if they were to get their gold back and returned to the Guilder and D-Mark respectively as the Euro was only forced on the Germans to rob them of some economic power. (another one of France's traditional set-ups) If both of were to leave the Eurozone, we could back to our "old game" of the Dutch Guilder being unofficially pegged to the D-Mark which benefited both our economies.

Terrible idea. I think the eu is awful for Croatia anyway but on the currency issue they should have a referendum.

No, just because one thing is bad there is no need to add another bad thing. Euro destroys weak economies and makes them worse. But since you hate Croatia you would like that.
