Default How popular is Hero Arminius (Herman) in Germany?

A first German who tried to unite German tribes into Germania, humiliated Roman Armies, brought a lot of technology to Germany, was assassinated by his own people.
Even if United Germania was something he wanted to achieve because he understood the value of unity, Germanic Tribes did not like that idea and killed him. Many
years will pass before Germany will become united, but it was Herman (Arminius) who was the first with that Goal.

Romans called him "Bane of Romans" "Hero of Germans" a very capable military commander, clearly a person that should have inspired many generations later.

I don't see many statues of Him in Germany... if he was my Hero, there would be a statue in Every city.

One of the greatest Statues we have and you opened your post with, is of him, so there is that.

Quite frankly our history education takes a big part of our education system, but it has a huuuughe focus on the 3rd Reich and almost completly ignores great parts like Arminius, HRE or 1870.

Before someone blames the allies for it, I think thats wrong. Germans themselves are the biggest enemies of nationalistic Germans.

Noone ever said it better than Napoleon:

"There is no more good-natured, but also no more gullible people than the Germans. No lie can be conceived treacherous enough, the Germans believe it. They follow a slogan which was given to them, to act against their own countrymen, rather than the real enemies of their country."
