    Britain is not Russia. I'd rather compared it to Japan, both are fellow island nations with strong naval history off the coast of Northern Eurasia, influenced by the Continent by sea (Europe and East Asia) but developed separately with own unique identities, both were the first to industrialise in their respective regions, both preserved long chain of institutional and political tradition that stretches to the Middle ages when compared to their continental counterpart and both still retained a constitutional monarchy
