Default Collins House: Building Melbourne's Prefabricated Skyscraper | The B1M

Prefabricated elements are being used to construct one of the world's most slender skyscrapers in Melbourne, Australia.

Looks horrible! There should be a ban on ugly buildings, these new apartments popping up around Sydney and Melbourne will be future slums.

They certainly took terrible but the engineering behind it, is actually quite interesting. Now if only we could combine more traditional architectural styles with high-tech engineering. We'd be going places !

LOL. No chance. Maybe if it was crappy apartments in the suburbs. Not upper class apartments in the CBD worth millions each and with a body corporate possibly in the thousands of dollars per year.

Hmm... you are somewhat right, generally the newer apartments closer to the city are generally better quality than ones further out but from what I've seen, not all are. A friend of mine is renting a place near the cbd and I was pretty surprised by how poorly built the interior was, the building only being less than 5 years old and it has issues, showing signs of shotty craftsmanship. Many of them look nice in photos and from the outside but until you live in one, well you'll never know how poorly made some are.

Also, do you not remember what happened with the Opal tower? Supposed to a marvel of a skyscraper, those apartments were worth millions and then it all started falling apart like the leaning tower of Pisa.
