scandinavians N°1,germans not always but are good in english, i like very much armin mueller-stall,but he speak with a german accent, swiss are multilingual with a strong accent, belgium netherland ok, meds could speak french well if they want, english with a strong accent;it's depends the main problem in france than we have doubling movies and tv show,i watch my tv shows and my movies in original version with subs since a very long time, for sure i have lost to speak but my earing is better i understand more the mainstream US than british accent especially the londonian one the cockney,it's awfull, british don't articulate, and worst australian is pretty hard too, i have seen american actors surprising me with their french, for sure i don't speak of jodie foster is a special case she learn french ,at the french high school of Los Angeles,Yale University, master in litterature, Honoris Causa Yale University not the same league, indeed if you check the files of the better actors they have a lot of high degrees diplomas.

I don't know why the British are included in this poll as we're generally not a nation of polyglots.

My English sister speaks fluent High German and she also learnt Latin after passing her exams at age 11 to academically earn her place in a grammar school.

Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins can sing in six different languages... so there are some exceptional individuals in the U.K., even though most U.K. people are generally monolingual. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katherine_Jenkins

A lot of Germans struggle to pronounce the word 'squirrel' in English. Also native English speakers struggle to say the word for squirrel in German. I've read news articles that not many Germans can speak or understand English. There's a German poster on TA called Teutone who also struggles with his written English.

The Dutch and Swedish have a high percentage of people who can speak, understand, and write English very fluently. The Dutch are the best Europeans for being polyglots.

A lot of Germans say 'zer' instead of 'the'. I think I would struggle to pronounce words in German, although my sister managed to live and work in Austria as she can speak fluent German.

This funny video clip below reminds me of my French ex boyfriend. (A lot of my English and Irish friends in London struggled to understand what he was saying when he spoke in English.) I'd sometimes have to ask him to repeat what he said several times before I could understand his English. He also found my attempts to speak in French to him funny and amusing as I can't speak in a fluent French accent and my French isn't good, and my pronunciation of French words must sound bizarre and strange to French people. I admire people who make the effort to speak in other languages though.

I've noticed French people often struggle to pronounce the letter 'H' at the start of words. They tend to say 'Otel' instead of 'Hotel', 'Airdresser' instead of 'Hairdresser', for examples. They also struggle with the 'Th' sound in English, so they say often say 'zee' instead of 'the.'

Out of the poll choices, I find it easier to understand Italian people when they speak in English, than trying to understand French people when they attempt to speak in English. The Dutch and the Swedish and Norwegians are the best foreigners for speaking fluent English.

The way this Italian man pronounces 'Victoria and Albert Museum' at 2:06 in this video is excellent.

The Italians have a very beautiful and musical accent that I love the sound of (it almost sounds like they're singing when they talk,) and I can understand them when they speak in English.

Some French people speak English very well... especially the French actor Gaspard Ulliel.

As for the nation that's able to understand multiple languages... I guess the French - out of the poll options. I think they can understand English, German, Spanish, Italian, etc, due to the geographical position of their country. I don't know why the British are included in the poll as we're not a nation of polyglots. The Dutch are the best people in Europe for being polyglots.

Dutch and Scandinavians in my experience. Since they're not in the poll I'll say Germans, but the ones I know are only OK at speaking English. The younger Germans are way better at English though, and know much more about American pop culture than me and my friends.
