If North Italians are genetically "south" of Iberians why are Iberians darker?

North Italians plot south/east of Iberians, in part due to higher input from the Caucasus region (which don't get me wrong is not that high in North Italy compared to in some other parts of Europe, it is just EXTREMELY low in Iberia, uncharacteristically so for Southern Europe).

However, you would never know it from phenotype. There are definitely more Iberians who look Mediterranean (and passable outside of Europe) than there are North Italians who do. I don't think North Italians look very different from southern Germans and some French.

Southern shift of Italians is not because of pigmentation but it is because Spaniards are usually closer to Nordic people anthropologically speaking.

I understood the original poster asked Italians are lighter than Spaniards overall but then why Italians are more Southern shifted than Spaniards. As far as I understood, being more Northern shifted means being closer to North Europeans. I guess, in terms of anthropological calculations and measurements, the distance between Spaniards and North Europeans would be less than the distance between Italians and North Europeans. It might be because of both Spaniards and North Europeans have more long headed and long faced individuals than Italians.

Armenoids are long headed too but not closer to North Europe
I think the difference is that Iberians are western shifted, while we are Eastern shifted

The climate is the main divide. People who get less Sunrays (so those who live in the north) are fairer than those who get more Sunrays (those in the south)

when you consider Armenoids, they look very eastern than North Europeans, Spaniards and Italians. I think this is the reason why Armenoids are less Nordic shifted than Italians and Spaniards.
