Lyrics of the song "Lourenço Marques" featured in the video/Letra da música "Lourenço Marques" ouvida no vídeo:

    Lourenço Marques
    By/Por João Maria Tudella

Há um não sei quê nesta cidade
Côr em seus jardins com ar contente
    Um jeito de sorrir
Por bem que só por si atrái

Há um não sei quê nesta cidade
    Que nos faz pensar alegremente
O cheiro bom que terra tem
    Depois que a chuva cai

    Lourenço Marques
    Minha flor, meu garriço
O teu nome não sei que faz
    Só sei que traz feitiço

    Lourenço Marques
    Meu amor, meu elevo
Boa sorte que tu me dás
    É a que traz o trevo

    Lourenço Marques
    Quem te deixa cidade
Que veneno não sei lhe dá
    só sei que traz saudade
Lol, it looked very developed to an african country, much more than I expected. Way more weathier than todays Maputo. Also, many whites on the street, what was the peak of white population in Africa/Angola/Moçambique? 15%?

Perhaps that picture was actually taken in Brazil?

Some of the links to the pictures seem to be broken now. Damn. :/
Communism always ruining tropical countries with iberian very rich elites. The problem of iberian colonizations is that they always create very unequal and money oriented societies where families with money live expetacular lifes and the native people die of envy offering a very open pro communism dispersion area like Cuba, Angola, Moçambique and Venezuela.

I don't know the %, but yes, that was the peak of Europeans in Angola and Moçambique. Due to the growth of leftist independence movements (backed by the USSR) in both Angola and Mozambique, the central Portuguese government introduced a policy of massive settlement with Portuguese people in the 1960s.

Well, actually the ones who started to revolt against the Portuguese were educated blacks who've had access to higher education in Portugal. The problem is, they got into contact with communists who wanted to oust Salazar/Marcelo Caetano, and other black communists from other countries which had recently become independent (from France and the UK). Most black people though, would have preferred Portuguese rule forever. They had jobs and food at least. When Portugal left, they died of hunger by the millions - and many actually came to Portugal to flee the chaos of civil war, disease and famine.

True, whites offered jobs, knowhow and technology there. We can clearly see South Africa, Cuba, Zimbabue, Kenia, Venezuela going down after white flights.

These are the best videos about the subject from the series "Do Outro Lado do Tempo", it would be worth it if you edited the OP to include them:

From Angola in the 60's and early 70's:

From Mozambique in the same period:
