Esta reportagem que aqui lhes deixo, de uma estação televisiva indonésia, é uma prova da herança portuguesa forte na Indonésia. A reportagem está em indonésio, contando com a intervenção em inglês do embaixador de Portugal em Jacarta e de uma leitora de português de uma universidade local.

Apesar de não entendermos uma palavra da reportagem, só as imagens já são eloquentes o suficiente para percebermos o sentimento relativamente a Portugal:



Falava-se o Papiá Tugo dentro da população, um crioulo de origem portuguesa muito semelhante ao Papiá Cristão que ainda hoje é falado em Malaca. Infelizmente, já ninguém sabe falar Papiá Tugu em Jacarta, com exceção de uma ou outra palavra avulsa. O último falante deste crioulo, chamado Jacob Quiko, faleceu em 1978. O Papiá Tugu apenas subsiste em alguns poemas e canções, como a canção que aqui vos deixo:



Muitas músicas são ainda cantadas, apesar de já não serem entendidas. Como a Bastiana ou a Moresco, entre outras. A Contribuição de Tugu para a musica indonésia foi muito grande. A música nacional da Indonésia, o Krontjong ou keroncong, derivou dessas cantiga.
O Cafrinho terá vindo com os indo-portugueses de Ceilão.
