Arabic influence on Spanish and Portuguese

There’s Arabic influence on French either and probably Italian. As to Portuguese, it’s minimal, a few words to name objects.

Indirectly there is also Arabic influence in Belgium, because Belgium has Spanish influence.

Interesting.

I don't know why some OWDers hate it anyway. Some features of Spanish/Portuguese architecture carry heavy Arabic influence too.

Yesterday I was walking in a more traditional neighbourhood in the city where I live, where the houses are built in a more Portuguese way, and I saw a lot of very beautiful houses with detailed tiles (''azulejo'', an arabic word itself) and well decorated entrances.

Muslim Spain was called "The Ornament of the World". When the Baghdad Caliphate and it's House of Wisdom fell to the Mongols, Cordoba became the greatest center of learning for the Islamic world and in one point, Cordoba was the most populous city in the world, during their time.

To the Muslims, lamenting the loss of Al Andalus was like us Christians lamenting the loss of Constantinople.
