The symbols of Andalusia
The flag of Andalusia
The white and green flag was chosen for Andalusia by the Ronda Andalucian Assembly of 1918, in the halls of the Artists' Casino, voting to be made in three equal horizontal bands, green, white and green, as it is currently.
The green and white are adopted "Because their colors - says Blas Infante - were the most appropriate to represent the company of the restoration of a people, never warlike, and always creator of original cultures, directors of humanity, as was Andalusia . "
"Green is the garment of our mountains and countryside, lit by the clasps of the peasant white rooms; Lemon trees in bloom are the trees preferred by the Andalusians and white are our villas and old cities of white villages with green grills edged with jasmine. Pure and white as a child, it is the reborn Andalusia that warms up in our lap. "- Blas Infante.
"The Andalusian Flag, symbol of Hope and Peace, that we have raised this afternoon, will not bring us peace or hope or freedom if each one of us does not carry it fully raised in his heart" - Blas Infante ( 1936)
The Andalusian flag acquired institutional value when endorsed by the Statute of Autonomy of 1981: "The Flag of Andalusia is the traditional one formed by three horizontal bands - green, white and green - of equal width, as it was approved in the Assembly of Ronda en 1918 "- Statute of Andalusia of 1981
The coat of arms of Andalusia
DOMINATOR HERCULES FUNDATOR
The mentioned assembly of Ronda, to agree the shield of Andalusia, was inspired by the one of the city of Cádiz, head of our Town after Tartessos, in the primitive time.
"Symbol also suitable for the expressed work of restoring a Country, always cultural; depicting a youthful Hercules, expression of the eternally young force of the spirit, taming or coordinating the instinctive force of animal stimuli represented by two lions; and inscribing at the foot of the shield this legend: "ANDALUCÍA, FOR YES FOR SPAIN AND HUMANITY"
This is: Andalusia wants to be, by itself, to resume the creative work of its incomparable history; but this inspiration, towards the distinction of his own effort and responsibility; it has as a goal: To give Spain whatever it was that came to create with its own energy, that is, it has higher incentives, Spain and Humanity, for which she longs to achieve in fact the creator of her own private soul; accredited by a particular uninterrupted history of cultural elaborations, intense, original, directors "

Andalusian National Anthem
The green and white flag
returns, after centuries of war
to say peace and hope
under the sun of our land
Andalusians, rise!
Demand land and freedom!
May Andalusia be free!
Spain and all Mankind! (too)
We Andalusians want
to return to what we were
Men of light, that gave
to men manly spirit.
Andalusians, rise!
Demand land and freedom!
May Andalusia be free!
Spain and all Mankind! (too)
Hymn of Andalusia played by the Sevillian singer Pastora Soler.
