Distinction between flamenco and Andalusian folklore

The flamenco genre was configured during the nineteenth century, on the substrate of traditional music and dance of Andalusia, whose origins are ancient and diverse. However, flamenco is not the folklore of Andalusia (composed of seguidillas, sevillanas, fandangos, verdiales, trovos, el chacarrá, el vito ...), but an essentially scenic artistic genre.

Flamenco, although it is based mainly on Andalusian folklore, is a genre so stylized and complex that the average Andalusian, even though he is well endowed for music, is unable to interpret correctly. In fact, at no time in its history has flamenco gone from being a music played by minorities, with greater or lesser diffusion. The emergence of professional singers and the transformation of popular songs by the gypsies, made their style move away from traditional tunes considerably. Flamenco subjects the popular to such a large stylization that it leads to the cult, but without losing its popular flavor Andalusian folklore.
