Andalusia already exceeds pre-pandemic employment with 3,161,930 contributors, an all-time record.

Almeria and Huelva are the provinces with the highest growth in the number of registrations to the system

Andalusia closed the month of July with an all-time record in employment, when the effects of the pandemic continue to mark the economic pulse. The 3,161,930 workers registered in the Social Security represent the highest number of affiliates of all the monthly statistical series published by the Ministry of Industry.

The latest figure, for July 2021, improves by 1.7% on the enrollment figure for the same month in 2019, with 53,489 more workers registered in the different regimes of the system. This regional advance in employment was higher than the national average increase in the same period, which was 1.3%.

    The pull of the self-employed
The self-employed are the ones who have most strongly pulled the labor market and have starred in the labor recovery in Andalusia, which has taken the lead in Spain in number of self-employed workers achieving the milestone of unseating Catalonia. Specifically, at the end of July there were 560,962 self-employed in the region, 25,740 more than in the same month of 2019, representing an advance of 4.8% in these two years.

    Provincial evolution
The provincial evolution of Social Security registrations shows that the recovery of employment has been more convincing in the provinces of Almería and Huelva, where the number of contributors has grown by 4.2% and 2.9%, respectively, with respect to two years ago.

The employment figures are also better in Seville, with 2.4% more workers in the labor market; Cadiz (2.2% more), Granada (1.6%), Cordoba (1%) and Malaga (0.30%). Only the province of Jaén has a lower number of contributors than in July 2019; specifically, it loses almost 1,500 affiliates, a decrease of 0.60%.

Seville and Malaga remain the main locomotives of the Andalusian labor market by volume of employment and account for more than 44% of all contributors in the community, with almost 1.4 million between the two provinces. In the case of Seville, the self-employed are also the protagonists of the economic recovery after the pandemic crisis, with 115,505 registrations, some 6,000 more than two years ago.
